A Level Gifts

Results Morning: When A Level Gifts Should Land

Results day for A Level students (Thursday 13 August) has a shape that GCSE day does not. Results are published from 8am, and for anyone waiting on a university offer, Clearing choices cannot be added until 1pm. Those five hours in between are the busiest of the whole year, which makes the timing of your A Level presents matter more here than the choosing of one - quite unlike the choosing of GCSE gifts!

There are two sensible ways to handle it. Order to arrive on Wednesday 12 August and the box is already on the table before anyone is awake, or use the DPD 8am to 12pm nominated morning slot on the day itself and it lands with the news. Inside the M25, Premium Delivery guarantees a chosen day from 9am, and it is the only way we can send fully covered celebration cakes. Full detail is on our UK gift delivery options page.

Whichever you pick, our range of A Level results gifts are bound to suit most students! Letterbox brownies are the classic choice of gifts sent by an aunt, a godparent or a friend - deliciously chocolate-y squares of salted caramel, chocolate Nutella, classic chocolate and millionaire shortbread, still soft in the middle. If you need something sooner than the twelfth, our next day gift delivery collection filters the range to what can still arrive in time.

A Level Gifts for the Six Weeks Between Results Day and Halls

Then the strangest stretch of the year begins. There is a celebration, and there is a departure, and they happen within a month and a half of each other.

The celebration comes first, in the days after the thirteenth, and it's usually bigger than any exam celebration before it, because it's the last one everybody will be in the same room for. This is where congratulations gifts come into their own: a cake hamper that holds a table of grandparents, or a full celebration cake with chocolate fudge buttercream under a glossy ganache.

Not every route out of the thirteenth goes through a university. Some of the best A Level results gifts this year will go to someone starting an apprenticeship, taking a year out or walking into a first job, and our new job gifts collection is built for exactly that. Clearing, meanwhile, runs all the way to 19 October, which is worth remembering: a place found in late August is a route, not a consolation. If the day is genuinely uncertain, our thinking of you gifts and good luck gifts say something warm without mentioning grades at all.

Then, some time in September, a car gets packed.

Sending to Halls: Off to Uni Gifts for September

Posting to a hall of residence is a different exercise from posting to a family home, and it catches people out. Post rooms keep their own hours, and a signature is difficult when the recipient is sitting in an induction talk. This is why letterbox brownies and letterbox gifts do most of the work for going to uni gifts and starting uni gifts: they post through a standard door and nobody has to be there to take them in.

Time it right and it does real work. Something that arrives during freshers' week, generally mid to late September, gets opened on a shared kitchen table in front of six people who met on Monday. That is the argument for cake hampers and larger boxes over one small box, and for sending a uni care package to be shared that week rather than saved, since our fresh bakes should be refrigerated and enjoyed within seven days.

The gift people forget to send is the one in October. The best going to uni gifts often arrive in the third week of term or in November, when the novelty has gone, the reading has started and a box of fudge and brownies means considerably more than it did in August. By second year, when halls become a first flat, our new home gifts collection picks up where the care package left off.
