This Diwali, we’re bringing something extra special to Cutter & Squidge… jewellery! We’re delighted to be partnering with the incredible Rani & Co, a brand that celebrates culture, empowerment, and modern elegance. To mark the occasion, we sat down with founder Ramona Gohil to chat about how Diwali inspires her, the role religion plays in her designs, and of course, her favourite festive sweet treats.

1. Where do you find inspiration for your jewellery designs?

At Rani & Co., feminism is at the heart of everything we do, so I always want our jewellery to feel empowering. When I’m sketching a new design, I ask myself: how will someone feel when they wear this piece? Our customers love our Goddess range, so that inspires me to keep growing it - each Goddess design carries its own story and meaning, which makes the jewellery not only beautiful but also deeply personal.

2. Your pieces are so vibrant and unique - have you always worked in this signature style?

Absolutely! What makes Rani & Co. so special is that every single piece is designed in-house by me. You won’t find our jewellery anywhere else in the world, it’s truly one-of-a-kind. That uniqueness, that little spark of individuality, has always been our signature style.

3. What’s your favourite part of celebrating Diwali?

For me, it’s all about family, laughter, and of course the food! Diwali is when my whole family comes together, we dress up in our best, share lots of delicious dishes, and just enjoy each other’s company. And there’s lots of Indian sweets to indulge in!

4. Are there any special traditions you follow during the festival?

Yes, we always light diya candles around the house, especially by the entrance. It’s a beautiful ritual, symbolising light triumphing over darkness, and it also invites prosperity and good fortune into the home. It’s one of those simple yet powerful traditions that makes Diwali so special.

5. Do you have any family recipes or festive treats you look forward to every year?

Kaju Barfi is my absolute favourite, it’s a classic Indian sweet made with cashews, sugar, cardamom, and a layer of edible foil. It has this melt-in-your-mouth, fudge-like texture that’s just irresistible. I look forward to it every year!

6. Which Diwali sweet or treat holds a special place in your heart?

Oh, I could never pick just one! Chocolate Barfi, Kaju Barfi, and Penda are all close to my heart. Each has that buttery smooth texture and rich flavour that instantly transports me back to childhood Diwalis filled with joy and sweetness.

7. How does Diwali inspire your jewellery designs or spark new creative ideas for your collections?

Diwali celebrates Goddess Lakshmi, who symbolises wealth and prosperity, and she’s at the heart of our bestselling Hindu Goddess collection. Our Lakshmi necklace is especially loved around Diwali, it’s such a meaningful gift at this time of year. While I don’t usually design new pieces specifically for Diwali, the festival inspires me to celebrate this collection, as it connects so beautifully to the spirit of the season.

This Diwali, as homes glow with diyas and families come together over sweet treats, we’re honoured to celebrate alongside Rani & Co. Ramona’s passion for creating Diwali jewellery that is not only beautiful but empowering makes this partnership feel truly special. Just like Cutter & Squidge’s desserts, each piece of Rani & Co. jewellery carries its own story, crafted to spark joy and connection.

So whether you’re indulging in our Gulab Jamun lighting candles with loved ones, or gifting a Diwali cake or meaningful piece of jewellery, we hope this Diwali is filled with light, love, and plenty of sparkle.
