The Common Room

Potion Class is over, it’s time for treats at the Common Room! Our magical themed afternoon tea in London is tucked away in the alleyways of Soho, where you’ll feast upon your favourite foods from Cutter & Squidge. Natural sweet treats, handcrafted savoury snacks and much more await you in The Common Room.

Book our immersive Afternoon Tea from just £34.99. Please note our themed afternoon tea is not a Harry Potter afternoon tea, and has no affiliation.

Hello Kitty: 2016-17

In 2016 we launched the first Sanrio official Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea in London. We immersed our customers in a unique and quirky experience based around Hello Kitty having high tea in London. The room was themed in Hello Kitty’s garden. Our menu was inspired by what Kitty loved to eat, apple pie mousse with a bow and chocolate mud pie! We heart Hello Kitty!

The Hello Kitty Afternoon Tea experience is no longer available.

Genie's Cave: 2017-18

We launched Genie’s Cave in 2017. We were voted one of the best afternoon teas in London. The Disney themed afternoon tea was inspired by the book Aladdin and the cave of wonders which made this experience great for children. We created jewelled scones, genie macarons, jewelled cakes all served on gold tables, with gold cutlery and china. Tea was poured from gold genie lamps to complete the experience.

The Genie's Cave is no longer available.

The Potion Room: 2018-23

Having launched in May 2018, and running for 5 years, The Potion Room had over 15,000 wizards big and small graduate Potions Class!
Part afternoon tea, part immersive theatre show, sweet-toothed students were invited to attend Potion Class. Wands and cauldrons at the ready, the Potions Master enlightened the class with the delicious delights of the dark arts, and had them whisking up edible potions and all manner of concoctions in no time!

The Potion Room is no longer available.

Is this like the Potion Room?

No. Unlike the Potion Room, we now have a more relaxed environment with a buffet style layout and many more delicious food options. There is no interactive element to the common room.

Is The Common Room connected to any film or character?

No. The Common Room is a completely new creation by Cutter & Squidge following our Potion Room afternoon tea experience and it is not based on any film or character and has no affiliation with any film or character.

Can we choose what we want to eat?

The Common Room is a buffet style food experience so you will be able pick from the savoury and sweet options available on the day.

Do you cater for any dietary requirements?

We can only cater for wheat-free (contains nuts), vegan and vegetarian diets, as well as wheat-free vegetarians. Our vegetarian items and vegan items are halal-friendly. Our standard food items may contain trace nuts. Please be advised that no other dietary requirements can be accommodated.

Do you cater for allergies?

Whilst the utmost care is taken to ensure no contamination occurs, all products are made in a kitchen that handles all the below named allergens, so all of our menus may have trace nuts and other allergens present. Please email us at hello@cutterandsquidge.com if you require more allergen information.

Allergens present: Peanuts, Tree nuts, Milk, Egg, Wheat, Soy, Fish, Shellfish, Sesame

Is the wheat free menu suitable for coeliac diets?

Our Wheat Free items have been produced without wheat/gluten, however as they have been made in an environment which handles gluten, we do advise that there may be trace gluten present. This menu is therefore not suitable for those with gluten allergies and coeliac sufferers.

I'm pregnant, is the food suitable for me?

We consider all food items suitable for pregnancies! All ingredients such as milk and eggs are pasteurised, and there is no raw fish.

Can I let you know when we arrive on the day if I have a dietary preference?

No. Please let us know well in advance about your dietary preference (vegetarian, vegan, wheat free only). We require at least 7 days’ notice (1 week) before your ticket date otherwise we cannot guarantee availability of your food suitable for you. To ensure we can cater for your dietary preference, you must tell us your preference when purchasing your tickets as part of the booking process, or by email to hello@cutterandsquidge.com. Please note we will only cater for vegetarian, vegan and wheat free dietary requirements and will be unable to cater for any other dietary requirements even if specified in advance.

We have no space to store prams or pushchairs and no baby changing facilities.

Why are children under 5 years old not allowed?

Can children go to the Common Room alone?

No. Unfortunately, although we completely understand how much children love the world of wizardry, we aren’t a child-only event and do require anyone under the age of 18 to be accompanied by an adult. We are licensed to serve alcohol in the Common Room, and we cannot be responsible for minors.
